BE(Hons) ME CPEng CMEngNZ IntPE(NZ)
Principal Engineer
Julian has 24 years of experience as a civil engineering consultant and hydrogeologist. He has expertise in projects involving groundwater engineering, advanced groundwater modelling (both flow and transport), source protection zone assessments, advanced aquifer testing, the prediction of groundwater–surface water interactions, water resource studies and resource management.
He has developed many catchment-scale groundwater–surface water models and used these models to inform policy decisions for multiple organisations. He has been extensively involved with modelling and investigating groundwater–surface water systems in numerous locations across New Zealand, including the Motueka-Riwaka Plains, the Takaka Valley and the Wairau Plains.
Julian has developed close working relationships with regional and district councils through his ongoing regional groundwater modelling work. He is an approved wellhead inspector for the Ashburton and Waimakariri districts, and he has conducted, directed and/or analysed numerous aquifer tests around New Zealand (particularly those with complex hydrogeological settings).
